$6.3 Million Modernization Latest Investment From Bowser Administration To Improve DC FEMS

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Saturday, April 22 at 10:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will highlight the modernization of Engine Company 14 during a ribbon cutting ceremony. Originally constructed in 1944, Engine Company 14 is home to FEMS personnel as well as their respective support teams.

The modernization of Engine Company 14 is part of Mayor Bowser’s ongoing commitment to improving DC FEMS. Since 2015, the Bowser Administration has improved the Department by filling critical vacancies and bolstering DC’s previously depleted apparatus fleet. In just two years, the Administration has hired an additional 45 firefighter paramedics and 48 firefighter EMTs and put 34 new or refurbished ambulances and 12 new or refurbished ladder trucks and engines on the street.

During the $6.3 million modernization, the DC Department of General Services maintained the historic nature of the building’s large apparatus bay, as well as the fire station’s iconic red doors.
