Mayor Bowser to Highlight Investments to Combat Gentrification

Mayor’s Families First DC Investment Establishes New Neighborhood Centers to Deliver Services Directly to Residents

(Washington, DC) – On Wednesday, May 8, at 11:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will highlight her Fiscal Year 2020 budget proposal’s investments to combat gentrification at her “Find Your Future: Citywide Resource and Empowerment Expo,” where residents can enroll in government programs and services and get connected to career and networking opportunities on site. The Expo is coordinated by the Department of Human Services (DHS), the District Department of Employment Services (DOES), and DC Public Schools.
 
The Mayor’s budget proposal provides new funding to Families First DC to establish family success centers in 10 neighborhoods East of the River to empower families, integrate services, and focus on upstream services to ensure families are safe, healthy, and able to thrive.
