(Washington, DC) – In anticipation of high temperatures throughout the weekend, Mayor Muriel Bowser has extended the hours of select outdoor pools from 10 am – 8 pm. starting Friday, July 22 through Sunday, July 24. A heat emergency has been activated for the District and will be in effect through Monday, July 25.
Outdoor pool hours are extended from 10 am to 8 pm at the following locations:

Banneker Pool, 2500 Georgia Avenue, NW
Ward 2
Volta Park Pool, 1555 34th Street, NW
Ward 3
Hearst Pool, 3701 37th Street, NW
Ward 4
Upshur Pool, 4300 Arkansas Avenue, NW
Ward 5
Langdon Park Pool, 2860 Mills Avenue, NE
Harry Thomas Sr. Pool, 1743 Lincoln Road, NE
Ward 6
Randall Pool, 25 I Street, SW
Ward 7
Ridge Road Pool, 830 Ridge Road, SE
Rosedale Pool, 1701 Gales Street, NE
Ward 8
Fort Stanton Pool, 1800 Erie Street, SE
Oxon Run Pool, 501 Mississippi Avenue, SE

Friday night, DC Department of Parks and Recreation will host Late Night Drip, an evening pool party and carnival-style family experience under the stars for all to enjoy until 11 pm. Late Night Drip will take place from 6 pm – 11 pm at Woody Ward Recreation Center, located at 5100 Southern Ave SE. To RSVP or learn more about events like this, visit DPR.events.

Residents can also cool down at one of the District’s 34 free spray parks, open daily from 10 am to 8 pm. Spray Parks are small outdoor parks equipped with kid-friendly fountains that are perfect for splashing around and escaping the summer heat.
