Mayor Bowser, Events DC to Celebrate Grand Opening of Multi-Purpose Recreational Fields at RFK Campus

Friday, June 7, 2019

(Washington, DC) – On Saturday, June 8, at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser and Events DC will celebrate the grand opening of “The Fields at RFK Campus,” marking the first completed program element of the RFK Campus Redevelopment Project.

The community celebration will feature two youth clinics operated by D.C. United’s Training Academy and the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy. Youth will be available to sign up and participate on-site. DC Fray will also host kickball and flag football tournaments, along with a fun spin on traditional tailgating activities, including oversized games, complimentary food trucks, family-friendly activities, live music, RFK Untapped Beer Garden, and more.

The new fields are the first part of Events DC’s vision for the future of the RFK campus to deliver and are comprised of three multi-purpose recreation and community playing fields. Events DC first presented the plan to the community in 2016 which included recommended program elements from community, stakeholder and city official feedback. Named “The Fields at RFK Campus” by community-casted votes, the fields have transformed 27-acres of asphalt into a vibrant sports and recreational destination within the District.
