(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, February 1 at 10:45 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the DC Department of Public Works (DPW) will join cities across the country to observe a “National Moment of Silence.” The event, led by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) and the Church of God in Christ, will observe the 50th anniversary of the tragic event triggering the 1968 Memphis Sanitation Workers’ Strike and the subsequent assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
