Mayor Bowser to Designate the DC Office on Aging as the Department on Aging and Community Living

Originally Introduced by Former Mayor Marion Barry, New Designation Will Expand the Mission of the Department

(Washington, DC) – On Friday, February 8, at 12:30 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will sign the District of Columbia Department on Aging and Community Living Amendment Act of 2018. This legislation will designate the District of Columbia Office on Aging as the Department on Aging and Community Living.

An earlier version of this bill was introduced by former Mayor and then Ward 8 Councilmember Marion Barry in 2013. The bill will elevate the mission of the department and create parity with other Health and Human Services Departments.
