Mayor Bowser to Designate 14th and Kennedy Streets as Part of DC’s Main Street Program

(Washington, DC) – On Saturday, April 21, at 1:45 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will launch the neighborhood revitalization program covering 14th and Kennedy Streets, designating the area as Uptown Main Street, and the latest addition to the DC Main Streets program. DC Main Streets is an initiative that promotes the revitalization of traditional business districts and has generated more than 3,000 jobs in the last three years. DC Main Streets are organized and led by local volunteers and community development professionals – who lead sustainable, community-driven efforts – to promote economic development, strengthen neighborhoods, and improve the quality of life for all residents. 
 
The designation ceremony is part of an event hosted by Uptown Main Street called “Earth Day Clean Up & Block Party” starting at 11 am Volunteers will be cleaning parks within the Main Street program’s service area. The event will end with a block party from 3 - 4 pm at the intersection of 14th and Kennedy Streets NW.
 
Mayor Bowser has declared this #EarthWeekDC by launching a series of events that celebrate Earth Day as well as highlight her Administration’s progress in making DC the healthiest, greenest, and most livable city in the United States.
