(Washington, DC) – On Friday, August 25, at 4:30 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will cut the ribbon on Friendship “Turtle” Park Recreation Center, a $7.1 million modernization project that will include a renovated kitchen, a new gallery and lobby, two community and craft rooms, and ADA-compliant public restrooms that will operate during and after the recreation center’s hours of operation in Ward 3.
Designed to meet LEED Silver Certification for an eco-friendly and energy-efficient environment, the 4,500 square-foot facility has enhanced exterior amenities such as outside seating; two playgrounds; a water fountain; a splash pad; and basketball and tennis courts. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Mayor Bowser will host Family Fun Day for residents to enjoy face painting, popcorn, the moon bounce, and a free screening of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
