Mayor Bowser to Cut Ribbon on DC’s Latest Short-Term Family Housing Program in Ward 6

Thursday, February 20, 2020

(Washington, DC) – On Friday, February 21, at 11:30 a.m., Mayor Bowser will cut the ribbon on The Aya, the District’s new Ward 6 Short-Term Family Housing (STFH) site. The ribbon cutting is another major step forward toward achieving Mayor Bowser’s commitment to close and replace the DC General Family Shelter with smaller, dignified, and service-enriched programs in all eight wards.

Aya ribbon cutting follows the openings of short-term family housing sites Kennedy (Ward 4), Sterling (Ward 5), Horizon (Ward 7) and Triumph (Ward 8) in 2018, and the ground breaking of Ward 1’s short-term family site in July 2019.

Who:

Mayor Bowser
Councilmember Charles Allen, Ward 6
Laura Zeilinger, Director, DC Department of Human Services
