(Washington, DC) – On Wednesday, June 11 at 12 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will cut the ribbon on the newly reopened Public Safety Communications Center (PSCC) in Ward 1. The PSCC serves as OUC’s secondary operations site and plays a critical role in ensuring continuity and resilience across the District’s 911 and 311 systems. The modernized facility expands capacity, enhances technology, and improves infrastructure to better support emergency and non-emergency communications.
Mayor Bowser will also highlight investments in her FY26 Budget: Grow DC, including $1.3M to raise salaries of 911 call takers to $61,313 annually and $1M for call taker recruitment and retention bonuses. These investments will ensure OUC has the resources to strengthen public safety communications and provide residents with reliable access to city services and information.
