Mayor Bowser to Convene Top 100 Local Employers to Discuss Strategies for Supporting DC’s Economy

Sunday, January 27, 2019

Washington, DC – On Monday, January 28, at 11 am, Mayor Bowser will meet with the District’s top employers to discuss strategies for supporting and protecting DC’s economy and launch a new program, Employer Engagement 100, to proactively engage with and support DC-based businesses.

In 2018, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, with support from the Washington DC Economic Partnership, launched the Employer Engagement 100 pilot program and met with over 100 companies and institutions. The goal of these meetings were to better understand the opportunities and challenges employers face; share Mayor Bowser's priorities for inclusive prosperity and economic growth; and discuss ways the District can support them.

The kickoff event will include a series of moderated “rapid-fire” discussions focused on key industries and their contribution to the District’s economy. Doug Fruehling, Editor-In-Chief of the Washington Business Journal, will serve as panel moderator.
