Today, August 19th at 2:30 pm at the Kennedy Recreation Center, Mayor Muriel Bowser with Police Chief Cathy Lanier will relaunch the District’s illegal gun initiative. So far this year, MPD has taken 944 illegal guns off the street. The District seeks the public’s help to identify violent offenders who carry illegal firearms. By getting guns off the street, residents can help prevent more tragedies. Residents with information about ANY crime or who would like to report an illegal gun should call (202) 727-9099 or text an anonymous tip to 50411.
