(Washington, DC) – Tomorrow, Mayor Muriel Bowser, DC Public Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson and Police Chief Cathy Lanier will announce a new initiative to advance DCPS’ college readiness and career education programming. The initiative is part of the Bowser Administration’s commitment to investing in programs that give students the tools they need to succeed in a highly competitive workforce. The programming will have a special focus on growing DCPS’ National Academy Foundation (NAF) academies with support from local businesses leaders serving as Industry Advisory Board members and providing over 100 internship opportunities for students this summer. They will also announce a new partnership with DCPS, the Metropolitan Police Department and the DC Police Foundation. This announcement comes during National Police Week, an annual week of events honoring America's law enforcement community.
