Mayor Bowser to Celebrate Milestone of Hands on Hearts Program

Friday, September 15, 2017

On Saturday, September 16, at 2:15 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will highlight the unprecedented success in the Hands on Hearts CPR program – a public safety initiative to provide free hands-only CPR training – at H Street Festival as part of 202Creates, a citywide effort to showcase the District’s diverse and vibrant creative community through an array of events throughout the month of September. In October 2015, Mayor Bowser launched Hands on Hearts with a goal of training 5,000 people in the first year and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (DCFEMS) exceeded expectations by training more than 10,000. Currently, DCFEMS has trained 30,000 residents – including DC Government employees, to be certified to provide hands-only CPR.

202Creates highlights artists, makers, tastemakers and entrepreneurs who contribute to the city’s creative economy. Led by DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment (OCTFME) and DC Commission on Arts and Humanities (CAH), 202Creates engages residents through events and activities that feature the various talents of the DC creative community from television, film, music, arts, dance, fashion, cosmetology, culinary, tech and much more.
