(Washington, DC) – On Friday, October 31 at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser, District leaders, and members of the community will come together for a Halloween-themed “ground-boo-reaking” ceremony to mark the start of a $65 million modernization of Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School in Ward 8. The project will combine a renovation of the existing structure with new construction to expand the school’s footprint from 48,000 square feet to approximately 70,000 square feet, providing new and upgraded amenities for students and teachers.
At the “ground-boo-reaking,” District officials will also call on the community to work together to keep trick-or-treaters safe and will provide updates on family-friendly Halloween activities happening citywide.
