Mayor Bowser to Celebrate the Grand Reopening of Franklin Park in Downtown DC

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Friday, September 24, at 12:00 p.m., Mayor Muriel Bowser will join federal partners, the DowntownDC Bid, and community members to celebrate the grand reopening of the newly modernized Franklin Park. Improvements to the space include a re-imagined fountain, improved seating, widened pathways, new trees, a children’s garden, and a maintenance program supported through economic resiliency.

The Franklin Park renovation is the result of years of partnership between DC Government, the National Park Service, the DowntownDC Bid, and the Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton whose bill authorized the Mayor of Washington, DC and the Director of the National Park Service (NPS) to enter into cooperative management agreements (CMA) for the operation, maintenance, and management of NPS-owned properties in the District.
