(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, August 24, beginning at 5 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Mayor’s Office on Women’s Policy and Initiatives (MOWPI) will host the 9th annual Women’s Equality Day Mixer. Each year, the event celebrates the day women were granted the right to vote on August 26, 1920, when the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution was certified as law.
This year’s celebration, at the new Sycamore & Oak retail village on the St. Elizabeths East campus, will highlight women entrepreneurs in DC and showcase the many resources the District has to support local entrepreneurs. Attendees will be able to access business clinic help desks, network with entrepreneurs and prospective partners, and learn more about grant opportunities. Attendees are encouraged to wear yellow to show support for women’s equality.
