(Washington, DC) – On Friday, November 22, at 12 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will break ground on Livingston Place at Southern, the first affordable assisted living facility for low-income seniors in Ward 8.
The five-story, 152-unit community is reserved for seniors age 60 or older who can live independently but need assistance with daily living. Residents of Livingston Place at Southern will receive meals, personal care services, and transportation and have access to onsite health care. The community will be reserved for individuals or couples with incomes of 60% or less of the annual median income and residents who qualify for Medicaid. Projects like Livingston Place at Southern continue Mayor Bowser’s commitment to supporting affordable housing for the District’s seniors so they can age in place.
