(Washington, DC) – Tomorrow at 11 am, Mayor Bowser will hold a media availability for a groundbreaking to begin construction of phase one of the Northeast Heights community redevelopment in Ward 7. The overall redevelopment project will include the construction of mixed-use space to include retail and residential space. Phase one of the project will involve construction of a new headquarters for the Department of General Services (DGS) which is responsible for building, maintaining, and sustaining the District’s real estate portfolio. The new headquarters is a $37.2 million project expected to be substantially completed in winter 2023. The Mayor will be joined by Ward 7 Councilmember Vincent C. Gray, representatives from Cedar Realty Trust, the Goldman Sachs Group, and members of the community.
