(Washington, DC) – On Monday, September 26, Mayor Muriel Bowser will join District officials, business leaders, and community members to celebrate the groundbreaking of The Asberry, the first on site building delivered at Barry Farm under the New Communities Initiative.
The New Communities Initiative is a project that dates back to Mayor Anthony Williams’ Administration and is a DC program designed to revitalize severely distressed subsidized housing and redevelop neighborhoods into vibrant mixed-income communities. Breaking ground on the Asberry, Mayor Bowser is delivering on a project that’s been years in the making and a first step in bringing residents back to Barry Farm, a beloved community to many long-time DC residents.
