Mayor Bowser Appoints Terrie Rouse-Rosario as Acting Executive Director of the Commission on the Arts and Humanities

(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the nomination of Terrie Rouse-Rosario as the Acting Executive Director of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH). Ms. Rouse-Rosario brings with her decades of experience in non-profit management and fostering institutional change for cultural, historical, and arts organizations across the nation.

Ms. Rouse-Rosario most recently served as the President of Rouse Consulting, a position in which she worked to strengthen organizations and institutions during periods of change. While in this role, Ms. Rouse-Rosario also served as the Chief Operating Officer for the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, where she successfully developed an operating structure and staffing model for an on-time opening of the center in June 2014.

Previous roles also include CEO for the United States Capitol Visitor Center and Executive Vice President/Director of Museums for Union Station Kansas City. She has also provided consultant services to a number of cultural, non-profit organizations across the United States, including a joint project between the City of Philadelphia, the National Park Service, and Independence National Historic Park (The President’s House: Freedom and Slavery in Making a New Nation).

Ms. Rouse-Rosario has served on more than a dozen professional associations and boards, including the American Alliance of Museums Board; has published a number of academic papers in art publications; and has conducted presentations and lectures on subjects ranging from cultural tourism to the management of art collections in the U.S. and abroad.
