(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the appointment of Dr. James Kyle as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Saint Elizabeths Hospital. Dr Kyle will begin service on Wednesday, March 2.
“Dr. Kyle is a nationally board certified health care executive with over thirty years of experience in the medical field,” said Mayor Bowser. “I am confident that Dr. Kyle’s passion and leadership will be beneficial to the Department of Behavioral Health team.”
Dr. Kyle started his career as a registered nurse. His experience spans the health care field both in and outside government, having served as a hospital executive director, director of nursing and patient care services, and clinic director of outpatient services for veterans. He also has served as a college professor and chief diversity officer. Before joining the health care profession, Dr. Kyle served in the United States Army as an active duty and reserve soldier.
“I also would like to thank Interim CEO, Dr. Beth Gouse for her continued commitment to serving the District,” continued Mayor Bowser. “Dr. Gouse’s unwavering dedication to patients and public service is reflected in her more than twenty years of service at Saint Elizabeths Hospital.”
Dr. Kyle has received his Bachelor’s degree from Bethel College and Master’s degrees from American Sentinel University, Georgetown University, Grantham University, and Touro University International and a conferred Doctoral degree in Leadership. Dr. Kyle also has completed graduate-level certificate training at Cornell University and Harvard Business School.
