(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced transitions of executive leadership in the Cabinet and appointed positions.
Kristy Love, Executive Director – Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC)
Kristy Love is appointed Executive Director of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. Director Love recently served as the agency’s Deputy Executive Director, where she led analytical and policy efforts across several priority areas, including combating violent crime, substance abuse treatment and mental health services, adult reentry, grants planning, and juvenile justice. She helped facilitate cross-sector collaboration among juvenile justice, education, and social service agencies by convening several committees and workgroups to help ensure positive outcomes for system-involved and at-risk youth. Prior to joining the CJCC, Director Love was an Assistant Director at the U.S. Government Accountability Office, where she oversaw evaluations of federally funded criminal justice, juvenile justice, intelligence sharing, and homeland security programs and initiatives.
Dr. Francisco Diaz, Interim Director – Department of Forensic Sciences (DFS)
Dr. Francisco Diaz is appointed Interim Director of the Department of Forensic Sciences. Dr. Diaz received training in Anatomic Pathology at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, Pennsylvania/Temple University. He joined the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Wayne County, Michigan as an Assistant Medical Examiner. During his career, Dr. Diaz has performed more than 8,500 autopsies, testified hundreds of times in various courts, authored 35 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and presentations, and has spoken at regional, national, and international conferences. Dr. Diaz will concurrently serve as the District’s Chief Medical Examiner, a role he’s held since 2021.
