(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Bowser announced that she will host three Budget Engagement Forums throughout the District in February. The forums will be open to the press and the public. The purpose of the forums is to solicit public input, and then use that input to shape Bowser Administration priorities and investments.
“Starting next week, residents have another opportunity to have a seat at the table,” said Mayor Bowser. “At each forum, residents will have the opportunity to help my team make some tough choices. I will draw on the input from these forums to shape my priorities for the coming year, and determine where to invest our resources in the next fiscal year budget.”
This is the second year the Mayor will host the Budget Engagement Forums. Last year, based on input Mayor Bowser received at the forums (and through other kinds of resident engagement), she made historic investments in affordable housing and strategies to end homelessness.
The Budget Engagement Forums are scheduled for Thursday, February 25 at Roosevelt Senior High School, Saturday, February 27 at the Department of Employment Services, and Monday, February 29 at King Greenleaf Recreation Center.
At the forums, Mayor Bowser, City Administrator Rashad Young and Budget Director Matt Brown will present an overview of the current budget environment. Following the presentation, Administration Officials will facilitate small group discussion on specific budget priority topics.
