Mayor Bowser to Announce New Digital Engagement Campaign at 2015 SYEP Career Exploration Fair

Thursday, April 30, 2015

Tomorrow, Mayor Muriel Bowser will host the 2015 Mayor Marion S. Barry SYEP Career Exploration Fair at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The SYEP Career Exploration Fair will provide employers with an opportunity to meet with youth, recruit for their openings, and allow youth to ask questions, explore different career choices, and gain additional information about summer jobs that are available to them. Employers will be on-site to conduct interviews with potential SYEP employees. This year 23,000 youth have applied for SYEP and over 16,000 have been fully certified and deemed eligible to participate.

Mayor Bowser will also announce a new digital engagement campaign to help foster a dialogue between residents and key stakeholders, including the faith community, law enforcement, the business community and others. The goal of the initiative is simple: to foster a collaborative dialogue between residents and stakeholders about challenges facing their communities.
