(Washington, DC) – On Tuesday, May 9 at 12:30 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will attend the DC Chamber of Commerce Small Business and Economic Development Summit and announce four DC businesses that will receive Locally Made Manufacturing grants. This program supports local businesses that engage in manufacturing, and it is intended to grow and diversify the District’s economy, bolster manufacturing, and strengthen supply chains within the city.
The 2023 Small Business Summit, hosted by the DC Chamber of Commerce, will bring together government leaders at both the local and federal levels, along with professionals from the small business industry. This event will provide a comprehensive overview of the state of the small business industry in the District of Columbia, as well as present a vision for future policies and programs that will benefit all businesses.
The Mayor will highlight investments in her budget that support local businesses, including:
- Additional $3 million for the Great Streets and Small Business Fund, for a total of $10 million.
- Additional $3 million for the Food Access Fund, a critical tool for expanding restaurants and other food access points in Wards 7 and 8, for a total of $24 million for small food businesses.
- Additional $1.5 million for the Festival Fund, also known as the Special Event Relief Fund, which helps to offset costs for community organizations hosting events in DC.
