(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, October 19 at 11:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the DC Department of Public Works will kick off the 2023-2024 Leaf collection season. Leaf collection will begin on October 30 and continue through January 20. Officials will also discuss how residents can compost pumpkins, holiday gourds, and other food waste at local food waste collections sites and what residents should expect as the DC Snow Team prepares for its Snow Dry Run on Friday, October 27.
A team of leaf collection season employees will demonstrate new leaf collection equipment that will make the collection process faster, including a new bucket truck and a leaf vacuum.
