On Tuesday, April 14 at the John A. Wilson Building, Mayor Bowser and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton will host a press conference to mark and honor National Equal Pay Day. According to the National Women’s Law Center, Washington, D.C. has the smallest wage gap in America with women earning an average of 91 cents on the dollar. Washington is also ranked 50 out of 51 in the country for having the largest wage gap between African American females and white, non-Hispanic males. Speakers will discuss the importance of paying everyone equally for equal work.
