Mayor Bowser to Hold 4th Annual LGBTQIA+ Flag Raising to Celebrate Pride

(Washington, DC) – On Monday, June 1 at 4 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will join District leaders and LGBTQIA+ community members to officially kick off Pride Month with the annual LGBTQIA+ Flag Raising Ceremony at the John A. Wilson Building. Now in its fourth year, the ceremony reaffirms DC’s commitment to equality, visibility, and opportunity for LGBTQIA+ residents. 

In 2026, the Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ Affairs also celebrates its 20th anniversary. To honor this achievement, Mayor Bowser will recognize Legacy Award recipients. And following the flag raising, attendees are invited inside the Wilson Building for a reception featuring music by DJ Cake Pop!, mocktails by Spark Social, and Pride swag created by LGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs.
