Mayor Bowser to Launch Talent Capital, First-of-its-Kind Regional Workforce and Economic Development Initiative

Tuesday, September 30, 2025

(Washington, DC) – On Wednesday, October 1 at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will join regional leaders in workforce development, higher education, and economic development to launch Talent Capital, a first-of-its-kind initiative housed at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG).

Talent Capital will provide free, AI-powered job matching, training, and reskilling, along with personalized support from partners across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. The initiative connects federally impacted workers with employers seeking talent and supports both residents and regional economic growth.

The initiative complements Mayor Bowser’s Growth Agenda by ensuring residents are ready to fill the jobs DC is creating. As part of the Growth Agenda, nine companies recently received $1.54 million through the Vitality and Growth Funds, creating 250 jobs. The FY26 Grow DC Budget also adds $5 million to the Vitality Fund to attract more companies in sectors like tech, healthcare, and business services.
