Mayor Bowser to Celebrate DC Defenders’ UFL Championship Victory

Thursday, July 10, 2025

(Washington, DC) – On Friday, July 11 at 1 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will host a celebration to honor the DC Defenders and their 2025 United Football League (UFL) Championship victory. The event will celebrate the team’s achievements, recognize its impact on the city, and highlight Washington, DC’s continued status as the District of Champions. The Defenders secured their first UFL title on June 14, 2025, under Head Coach Shannon Harris.

Through strategic investments, the Bowser Administration is growing DC’s reputation as the Sports Capital. The Mayor’s FY26 Budget, Grow DC, doubles down on this commitment to sports and entertainment, as these sectors continue to drive job creation, tourism and citywide economic growth.
