Mayor Bowser to Celebrate with Seniors at Senior Fest 2025

Tuesday, May 20, 2025

(Washington, DC) – On Wednesday, May 21 at 12:45 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will join community members, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation, and the DC Department of Aging and Community Living for Senior Fest 2025. The annual event is a fun-filled day of music, dancing, entertainment, food, and resources for seniors from across all eight wards.

Due to the forecasted rain, Senior Fest has been relocated indoors to the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (701 Mississippi Avenue SE). It was originally scheduled to take place outdoors at the Gateway DC Pavilion.

This year’s Senior Fest takes place during Older Americans Month, which carries the theme “Flip the Script on Aging,” encouraging a new perspective on growing older, one that embraces engagement and activity. Senior Fest embodies this by offering seniors the resources, information, and community they need to stay active, connected, and empowered to age in place comfortably.

Since taking office in 2015, Mayor Bowser has made it a priority to ensure that Washington, DC is a place where residents can age safely, comfortably, and with dignity. The Bowser Administration has expanded housing supports, strengthened senior wellness programs, and invested in community-based services that allow older adults to thrive in their neighborhoods. As a result of these efforts, Washington, DC was recently ranked the #1 best place to retire in the United States by Seniorly. This recognition highlights the city’s commitment to older residents and the resources available to help them age in place.
