Mayor Bowser to Launch DC Infrastructure Academy

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Monday, Mayor Muriel Bowser will fulfill a 2017 State of the District Address promise to open the District of Columbia Infrastructure Academy, an innovative workforce training program that will provide hands-on experience and training for residents to secure long-term employment in the infrastructure industry. Currently, the infrastructure industry is experiencing a gap between open positions and available workers to occupy them, and Mayor Bowser has dedicated resources to eliminate that shortfall and create more opportunities for pathways to the middle class for all District residents. 
 
The opening of the Infrastructure Academy will be immediately followed by a job fair bringing together employers and talent to fill current vacancies.
 
Modeled after similar, and successful, programs in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Georgia, the DC Infrastructure Academy will bring high-quality, specialized utility, transportation, logistics and energy efficiency trainings under one-roof, providing residents with the necessary skills to begin and maintain careers in one of the fastest growing industries in the nation.
