(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, December 15 at 12 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Office of the Deputy Mayor of Planning and Economic Development will celebrate the future of housing in Downtown at the conversion ceremony of the Vanguard building. The Vanguard building, which opened in 1965 and, for years, was home to the Peace Corps, is being transformed into the Elle Apartments. The conversion of the building marks a step forward in the work to reimagine Downtown as a vibrant mixed-use community where residents can live, work, and play. At the event, Mayor Bowser will highlight her FY23 Housing in Downtown Abatement Program, which will encourage new residential projects Downtown.
