(Washington, DC) – On Friday, February 16 at 11 am, as part of a series of Black History Month celebrations, Mayor Muriel Bowser and members from the District of Columbia Combat Sports Commission will host a Black in Action Boxing Champions Tribute. The event will celebrate and honor DC’s boxing champions and highlight boxing opportunities for youth offered by the Department of Parks and Recreation at recreation centers across the city.
Honorees of the event will include Jalil “Major” Hackett, the new World Boxing Council’s Youth Champion, five nationally ranked former DC boxing champions, and Jahmal Harvey, a U.S. boxer who will be representing the District in the Olympic games this summer in Paris.
