Mayor Bowser to Break Ground on McMillan Development in Ward 5

Transformative project will create over 6,000 jobs, produce more than $1B in conomic activity

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Wednesday, Mayor Muriel Bowser will join Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie and Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development Brian Kenner to break ground on the 25-acre McMillan Sand Filtration Site, one of the most transformative projects in Washington, DC. McMillan will create over 6,000 jobs and produce more than $1 billion in economic activity. With 12 acres of public, open green space and an eight-acre park, the redevelopment will finally allow neighbors to access McMillan’s green space. The groundbreaking represents the first activity at the site in nearly three decades and is another example of the Bowser Administration moving forward with a previously stalled project.
