Mayor Vincent C. Gray to Release Draft Sustainable DC Vision, Open New Anacostia Riverwalk Trail Bridge on Tuesday, April 24

Sustainable DC Vision

WHAT/WHO:                Mayor Vincent C. Gray, Federal Highway Administration Deputy Administrator Greg Nadeau, District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Director Terry Bellamy, D.C. Office of Planning (OP) Director Harriet Tregoning, District Department of the Environment (DDOE) Director Christophe A. G. Tulou and D.C. Council representatives will announce the release of the draft Sustainable DC Vision as well as open the new Anacostia Riverwalk Trail Bridge to the public.

WHEN:                                 Tuesday, April 24, 2012
                                               11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

WHERE:                               South entrance of new Anacostia Riverwalk Trail Bridge (just northeast of the Pennsylvania Avenue SE overpass)
                                               1960 M Street SE

Directions: From Intersection of M Street and 11th Street SE: Continue east on M Street straight through the rotary at Maritime Plaza 1 until you reach the overpass of the John Philip Sousa Bridge.

BACKGROUND:                 The draft Sustainable DC Vision is a 20-year initiative to make the District of Columbia the greenest, healthiest and most livable city in the nation. The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail is part of the Anacostia Waterfront Initiative, whose goal is to create a world-class waterfront in our nation’s capital, supports this cause. The new trail bridge provides a seamless connection between Benning Road and the Tidal Basin.
