Mayor Vincent C. Gray, District Agencies to Kick Off One City Summer

WHAT/WHO:              Mayor Vincent. C. Gray and more than 20 government agencies will celebrate the beginning of One City Summer, the District’s comprehensive summer program. The initiative provides an opportunity for youth and families to enjoy activities and receive information on all the services and activities available to District residents this summer.

WHEN:                        Saturday, June 16, 2012
                                   1:00 pm – 2:00 pm – Community Briefing
                                   2:00 pm – 6:00 pm – Kick Off Event
                                   6:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Teen Event

WHERE:                      Banneker Recreation Center
                                    2500 Georgia Avenue NW

BACKGROUND:  DPR, DOES, DCPS, DCPL, MPD, FEMS, DC Water, HSEMA, DDOT, DOH, OSSE, Serve DC, DPW, DHS, DYRS, DMHH, the DC National Guard, and other government and community agencies will offer information on the safety, educational, recreational and nutritional activities, programs and services they will provide to District residents during the summer months. Each agency will have an information table Saturday. The event also will include free food, entertainment, giveaways, wall climbing, swimming, skating, moon bouncing and more. Late afternoon activities will focus on teens.
