Mayor Vincent C. Gray Commends Federal City Council’s Decision to Name Former Mayor Anthony Williams as CEO

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Mayor Vincent C. Gray welcomed today’s announcement that former Mayor Anthony A. Williams had been named CEO and Executive Director of the Federal City Council, an organization of civic leaders that works with public officials to find solutions to challenges facing the District of Columbia.

“I commend and applaud the Federal City Council for choosing Mayor Williams as their new CEO, and I look forward to working closely with him once again,” said Mayor Gray. “I’ve worked with him over many years and in several capacities – including as a member of the DC Council and as a non-profit leader – and our relationship has always been wonderful and productive.”

He continued: “Tony Williams took a city in dire straits and turned it around with a focus on adhering to fiscal discipline, growing our economy and improving the workings of our government. There is nobody more qualified to lead an organization dedicated to partnering with public officials to create the best District of Columbia possible. This is wonderful news for our city.”
