Mayor Vincent C. Gray to Announce Partnership with HUD

WHAT/WHO:              Mayor Vincent C. Gray and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Assistant Secretary Mercedes Marquéz will announce a new partnership between HUD and the District government that will provide technical assistance to DC government agencies as they implement an improvement plan for grant administration.

BACKGROUND:           Mayor Gray has committed to improving the way the District’s agencies administer federal grants provided for housing and community development. The Mayor requested a needs assessment of those programs and the District agencies that administer them, including the Department of Housing and Community Development, the Department of Human Services and the Department of Health. HUD will provide technical assistance to the District as the agencies implement a plan that arose from the conclusions of the needs assessment.
