Mayor Vincent C. Gray and DCPS Chancellor Kaya Henderson Set to Unveil Turner Elementary School Modernization
WHAT: Mayor Vincent C. Gray, DC Public Schools (DCPS) Chancellor Kaya Henderson, City Administrator Allen Lew, Department of General Services Director Brian Hanlon and Principal Robert Gregory will cut the ribbon on the new Turner Elementary School in Ward 8. The $27 million project includes a full-scale modernization and renovation to the interior and exterior of the building.

BACKGROUND: The modernized Turner Elementary School features renovated classrooms with cutting-edge technology, a computer lab, a new gym, a new basketball court and a new playfield with a track and three green areas for gardens. The campus is the latest DCPS facility to be modernized as part of an ongoing, multi-million dollar effort to update the District’s school facilities and provide students with high-quality learning environments.
