Mayor Gray and Chairman Brown Announce Ambitious Plan to Renovate DC Playgrounds
WASHINGTON, DC) – Mayor Vincent C. Gray and DC Council Chairman Kwame Brown today announced an ambitious plan to renovate up to 24 existing playgrounds in the District of Columbia.
“Every child in the District should have a safe and inviting place to play,” said Mayor Gray. “Working together, Chairman Brown and I have come up with a plan that makes a very significant down payment on reaching that goal. Renovating these playgrounds is an investment in the well-being of our children, and I can think of nothing worthier.”
“By developing and beautifying our playgrounds, we are improving the livability of the city, promoting physical activity and serving our communities better,” said Chairman Brown. “The renovated playgrounds will benefit thousands of children and families and strengthen development in their neighborhoods. I would like to thank the Mayor for his support of this project. I remain committed to improving and expanding family-friendly spaces in the District.”
