Mayor Bowser to Celebrate the Re-Opening of Roosevelt High School

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser and Ward 4 Councilmember Brandon Todd will join education leaders and the school community to celebrate the renovation and re-opening of Roosevelt High School.

Roosevelt recently underwent a $140 million modernization including a restored auditorium, brand new atrium, and state-of-the-art facilities. For the first time in 25 years, Roosevelt’s 13th Street entrance will be open to students when they arrive for the first day of school on Monday, August 22. In addition to the modernized building, Roosevelt will also have a brand new global studies focus starting this school year. Together with local and international partners, Roosevelt will offer a dual-language program starting in 9th grade, dedicated global building spaces, and coursework and pathways that focus on increasing students’ global competence and understanding.

Tours of Roosevelt will be offer during the celebration.
